Cyndi’s Origin Story
What if the point wasn’t to eliminate feelings of insecurity, uncertainty or even upset, but rather realize that we could have all these feelings, without them having us?
As a life-long seeker and daughter of rather conventional Chinese American parents, over-achieving was my conditioned north star. And fixating on all the parts of me that seemed ‘not good enough’ seemed like a good idea. Otherwise, how would I fix the flaws and make myself better? Unfortunately, this approach only left me feeling insecure and self-conscious.
Flash forward forty years (!!) and I have a lot of compassion for that little 10-year-old who got bullied in fifth grade because she wasn’t cool enough. What I didn’t realize was years of sincere self-help discovery, eighteen years in advertising at some of the top agencies such as Chiat LA, Publicis Seattle, Kirshenbaum NYC, Goodby SF, and Deutsch LA, and then a Master’s in Psychology still wouldn’t help me shake feelings of imposter syndrome.
It took getting a Coach, walking my own path as a manager and leader, trying/failing/getting feedback/trying again, and ultimately falling in love with the art+science of deep listening and pointing to truth - for me to see through my habitual survival thinking and realize wonder, curiosity and possibility are always on offer.
Today I have the privilege of helping leaders get more out of themselves, their teams, and organizations. Because from this more present, attuned self - we can’t help but make better decisions and have a more positive impact on only everything around us.
So if you’re ready to ride the sine curve of the human experience with greater grace and understanding, let’s do it!
